Our Programs
Denver World Affairs Council
The Denver World Affairs Council speaker series offers a unique opportunity for Coloradans to learn about current issues in foreign affairs from those who are at the forefront of policymaking and scholarship. Each month, we host networking events featuring distinguished authors, international thought leaders, and policymakers. World Affairs Council events provide members an opportunity to connect with each other while getting “behind the headlines” on important current issues in international affairs. Recent topics have ranged from China’s economy to the modernization of the US military to the Arab Spring. Through the Denver World Affairs Council events, we bring the world to Denver.
International Visitor Leadership Program
One of the primary ways in which WorldDenver connects the Colorado community to the rest of the world is through the International Visitor Leadership Program. For 70 years, this program has brought foreign leaders and specialists to Colorado to meet with their professional counterparts and experience life and culture in the United States. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, the program enables ordinary Americans to participate in a sort of grassroots diplomacy, influencing future foreign relations through their interactions with these international visitors.
Young Professionals
WorldDenver Young Professionals connects young professionals with a passion for global affairs and a desire to strengthen Denver's international community through networking, education, service, and professional development. YP members include young professionals (ages 18-40), students, career seekers, those with international careers, and who have a personal interest in international affairs.

Home Hospitality
Home hospitality is a unique opportunity to improve understanding and positively affect relations with people of other countries. A relatively simple gesture with tremendous impact – inviting international visitors into private homes grants visitors a new appreciation for other cultures and allows visitors to see beyond the Hollywood stereotypes to the reality of American life. International visitors regularly cite the home hospitality experience as the highlight of their trip and as the activity that had the most impact on their opinion of the United States.
K-12 Programs
A global outlook and global skills are as important as basic literacy, which is why WorldDenver calls its schools outreach program GlobaLiteracy. The goals of GlobaLiteracy are to create opportunities for students to gain global outlook, foster world affairs interest and cultural understanding, and provide international shared experiences. By request, GlobaLiteracy offers speakers in the classroom, scholarships to local events, and special discussion time for teachers and students with DWAC speakers.
*NEW! WorldDenver Talks
