Justice Kwesi Kwarteng

Entering Fogo de Chao wearing a fashionable suit with a black bowtie and a brown fedora, Justice Kwesi Kwarteng, founder and executive creative director of The JTA Group, walked in with an air of confidence. He had just completed a 9-day mentoring program with the Mentoring Partnership for Young African Leaders, and this closing reception for the delegation was a perfect way to wind down and capture the moments on film.

As a volunteer mentor for the Mentoring Partnerships for Young African Leaders, Justice had the opportunity to partner with a Ghanaian mentee, Tonyi Senayah, CEO of Horseman Shoes - who was hoping to expand his line to the United States - and educate him on how to do business in America and succeed.  To better understand his mentee, Justice had Tonyi make a presentation about his goals and what he wanted to learn and accomplish while in the United States.  Once he had a better understanding of who his mentee was and what he wanted to gain from the experience, he brought his mentee to different companies throughout Denver to expose him to the plethora of different styles and for a more hands on learning experience.

When asked, what did he want his mentee to gain out of this experience- Justice replied that he knows and understands where Tonyi is coming from, because he, too, is from Ghana and was once walking in the same “shoes”. He knows that Tonyi expanding the shoe line to the U.S. will be difficult, but with time and persistence, it is possible that he can succeed.  All in all, Justice wants Tonyi to continue to be ambitious and to never give up.  He also wants Tonyi to keep in mind that with ambition, there has to be a level of practicality and reality.
